Actually I like spiders. A lot. When I find one that's looking alone and starved inside the house, I carry it outside. This process is often quite tricky, and sometimes involves playing spider-yoyo, and sometimes involves my racing for the front door with my hands cupped in a ball while D. gets the door for me.
Spiders eat mozzies and flies and all sorts of other nasties, and a lot of them, especially the jumping spiders, are downright cute IMNSHO (see icon). I reckon spiders don't get nearly enuff luv.
...Mind you, lest I be mistaken for a member of PETA, I agree with you completely about the tiny yappy dogs. It's no accident that chihuahuas were originally bred for food.
