Well that co-worker was fired ... it seems whatever he may have contributed was outweighed by the costly mistakes he was doing. How ever annoyed and irritated I may have been, it was still a sad day, and not something I wish on anyone. It affected us greatly.
Blogs, specifically fan-related blogs, began in a very ... I loath to use the word 'demanding', but yet in a sense were, environment back when I began. Personal posts were often ignored by the majority and commented on by very few, and usually by those who knew the person on a closer level. I think it changed drastically since that time -- I think readers are more forgiving and open-minded today, and don't forget that the majority of writers and fans of the various fandoms started at a relatively young age (I know I was), and I suppose over the years a certain maturity has settled as well, where we realize that real life does have a bearing on what we write on a personal basis.
Like you, however, I do get my twitchy moments. But then I remember I write primarily for myself :)
