Was I the only one who was more shocked (than Dumbledore's death) at the fact Harry got a 'Exceeds Expectations' in Potions? Keep in mind, this is SNAPE who graded this, NOT Horace.

Also, I never thought Avada Kedavra could sound so damn sexy.

It wasn't Snape who graded him, it was the Ministry (the NEWTs are not a Hogwarts' exam).

I think the Ministry grades the OWLs, not the professors. So Snape's opinion wouldn't count. What I found surprising is the that he must have learned something from Snape after all.

But if the Ministry grades the OWLS, how come it was up to Snape whether Harry an 'Exceeds Expectations' wasn't enough to continue on and Horace did?

I think the potions master sets the standards for who is allowed to take NEWT-level potions--apparently Sluggy's standards are lower than Snape's. What a shock.

Yes, but you'll notice Snape didn't have any such requirement for his Defense class: an E was fine, just like in McGonagall's Transfigurations class.

The fact that Harry's O in Defense would have made any restrictions Snape might have set totally moot is beside the point. *g*

Oh, of course... there's no way Snape would set policies based on Harry's performance. Never. He's completely impartial.

I suppose he must have allowed people with E's into DADA, though, since Ron was there. I read the book so fast I missed out on a lot of those details.

Right with you on Tonks. I liked her a lot in OotP, but she was so mopey and depressing this book, if I were Remus, I would have been running away like mad. And I could never figure out if her appearances actually meant something, or if they were just leading up to the Remus/Tonks eww-ness.

I'm absolutely convinced that Dumbledore has planned this whole thing, but I can't for the life of me figure out how it's all going to work out.

LOVED all the Snapey goodness and was oh, so NOT surprised when Albus went arse over tea kettle off the tower.

As for Tonks. . .WTF? Who WAS that mousy haired mope? Did she catch something from Amadala in the last Star Wars movie and had terminal lovesickieness. ICK. Turned an interesting character into crap.

And besides, Remus is SO not straight. Poor girl is going to find out she's his beard sooner or later.

I'm sure there's something else going on with Tonks. Her patronus is "weaker" and four-legged. She looks mousy. She seems tiny and miserable. She shows up sort of at random. This is NOT Tonks. This is not even grieving Tonks or lovelorn Tonks.

This is Tonks after a snogging session with a baby Dementor, or under a cousin of Imperius, or suffering from a lingering curse, or something. Something plotty.

Sure, if JK wants her and Remus to shag, JK can have them shag. But I'm not going to accept that her personality and her magic faded like that over an unconsummated crush, or even the death of her cousin by a witch she failed to kill.
