So I was discussing story possibilities with my husband.  Yes, me and my hubby talk about my slashy obsessions.  Aren't I just about the luckiest??  In any case, I have this bunny that I want to materialize, but am having difficulty with.  I had the idea that following Dumbledore's death, Snape might just want to perform that horcrux spell for himself; while his intentions are noble and such, the man is still Slytherin and might share an obsession with Voldemort about immortality.  For the sake of the plot, however, I was wracking my brain with what Snape might consider a worthy vessel for a shard of his soul.

And my husband to answer: "What about Dumbledore's pensieve?"

It makes sense ... but it's such a huge endeavor that I am not certain to want to write it right away, or at least not before I have the time to do so.  But as far as bunnies go, I don't have that many, and wish I did.  Snape's voice is oddly silent these days, and I would love for it to start yelling insults for no other reason than showcasing what a greasy git he can be.

*sigh*

I hate wanting to be so damned canon and having to work around something as huge as SNAPE DYING.

*sigh*

Yes I am. Though he does try to push me the way of SS/HG in his O So Not Subtle ways. ;)

Snape may be slytherin but he isn't evil. After all, he has true love for Lilly and he works for the Order rather than the Death Eaters. I think you would have an easier time with Snape being a ghost or being resurrected or some such than having him become the next Voldemorte because that is what making horcruxes would do to him. My two not worth much at all cents! LOL

I completely agree, though I was trying to look for a non-evil horcrux solution. However, after just finishing HBP, it's not obvious to get around the fact you need to be a complete evil bastard to split your soul.

I toyed with the idea of Harry managing to save Snape from death, though that changes the future. A ghost is plausible, as is a portrait. Somehow having a snarky ghost at Hogwarts hovering in Potions is funny. :)

Thanks!

oh! I agree! Even better, I think you could have Snape coming back to haunt Hogwarts because he isn't done with Harry and when Harry comes back as a teacher in 20 or 30 years, Snape can be a bitchy queen and be all like, took you long enough! LOL

Working around canon is even harder than just Snape dying; there's all that "Harry does nothing useful for an entire year" business of Deathly Hallows. DH really soured me for trying to write around it. My HP plotbunnies still involve the Hogwarts years, sadly!

So I was discussing story possibilities with my husband.

It's a great feeling, to be able to do that, isn't it? :D

Many congratulations, you deserve him! :)
