I hate a sick day that's spent sick.

Well this was an awfully horrible day. People, I don’t know how many of you have suffered from food poisoning, but my husband and I went through this predominantly nasty affliction today. While it wasn’t a grade 10 illness, we are left weakened and incoherent by a day of doing absofuckinglutely nothing. I cannot stress this enough; me and couch-potatoing do not mesh. So on top of trying to keep whatever crumb of food I’ve managed to eat against my will down in my stomach, I’ve also had to deal with the fact I couldn’t stand up without needing to sit down one minute later. It’s the restless ‘wanting-to-take-advantage-of-a-day-off-to-do-everything-I-didn’t-manage-to-do-during-the-weekend-but-feeling-too-bloody-tired-to-do-it’ feeling that gets me.

Thankfully, mini-Snaples was not affected and enjoyed his time at daycare while his daddy and mommy groaned and moaned and whined … with nothing pleasurable to show for it.

It did, however, give me ample opportunity to finish Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and realizing with emerging disappointment how awfully boring the book is until the last eighth of the story.

However, now that my Harry Potter fix is satisfied, I can focus on writing. And drawing. And acquiring new reading material. The husband is still trying to get me to read Eragon, and while I manage over and over to read the first chapters with sparkling enthusiasm, my excitement suddenly drops to a dead halt and I push it aside for other material. I wonder why that is.

Could it be because Eragon's an utter waste of trees, written by an Originality-Free Zone whose idea of a Devastatingly Clever Title is to take the word Dragon and increment the initial by 1? *smirk*

We were feeling better that same evening, so phew for that. I learned after the fact my mum was afflicted with the same thing, so definitely something we ate at the folks.

Mini-Snaples is almost three years old. Mind you, if I had a boy, I always thought I would have a mini-Severus running around, but so far he's proving to be a stubborn and reckless Gryffindor. There are moments of quiet Slytherin observation, however. ;)

On the subject of Eragon: that could well be the culprit indeed!

And argh! No more mention of camping! Ugh, what a waste. *sigh*

You probably have a hard time reading Eragon because it was written by a fifteen year old, and it shows at the beginning. If you can keep yourself reading, though, it does get better. And it might get your husband to stop pestering you about it!

And Deathly Hallows... is it just me, or did it give the impression that she just wanted to get it over with, and just... wrote it, just got it out, and said, "There, I'm done, dammit! Now take it away before I start fiddling with it or the next thing we know, it'll be another three years before I finish it again!!"

I definitely keep trying to read Eragon -- the passage about the Shade keeps me interested, but beyond that I need to give myself a swift kick in the rear to continue.

I definitely got that impression for the Deathly Hollows book. There were passages of the book that felt rushed and literally narrative, not at all given the extra care and wit she gave every passage of her past books. I thought I was the only one who thought that.

You know, back in the day when I was on LJ all the time & more involved in the HP world, you were my absolute favourite writer. I've only recently started using LJ again, and it made me smile to see you writing in your LJ again too.

::blush blush:: That is so kind! I'm so glad to see around as well! It's one of those things Real Life sort of separates you from but then you return, and so many things are comforting and familiar that there doesn't seem to be any passage of time between past and present :)
